Fairview's History

Dedicated to providing premier yet affordable education, Fairview International School was established in 1978 for parents seeking a more enriching and comprehensive form of learning. From its humble beginnings and only a handful of students, Fairview International School is now home to well over 2,000 students in four IB World Schools across Malaysia, representing over 65 different nations.

Established in 1978, Fairview was founded by a group of like-minded parents seeking greater educational opportunities for their children. Despite the schools many achievements, Fairview lacked one thing – a true home. Until 2009 the students and staff of the Kuala Lumpur campus had been uprooted several times from one location to another, for various reasons.

Since then, Fairview has grown in leaps and bounds, reaching a significant milestone of 35 years in 2014. More importantly, Fairview has inspired the minds of thousands of students over the years; students who not only achieve outstanding academic results but are nurtured socially, emotionally and physically. Our students leave the halls of Fairview as internationally minded global citizens, equipped with essential skills for the many challenges of the 21st century.

Fairview International School is the only IB World School in Malaysia to offer the continuum of IB programmes; the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).

Message from Principal

We built Fairview Ipoh together!

Having operated for four years now, Fairview Ipoh rides on the extensive knowledge and vast experience from its four sister campuses. It grew from just a building to being an education hub where students don’t just go to school. They come to school to find joy in learning and experience hard facts of life.

The new generation of children exhibit skills and talents of unparalleled genius. The future belongs to those who are Knowledgeable, Inquirers, Thinkers, Principled, Communicators, Open-minded, Caring, Courageous and Reflective. This is why a complete, well-rounded personality has to have a balance of physical, emotional, social and spiritual skills. Fairview Ipoh develops our curriculum to fit this requirement.

We gladly offer a spectrum of activities leading to multiple experiences and the enrichment of our students. The International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy, helps us to instill values in our children, where children are most open and receptive to acquire character values in a relaxed and conducive environment. The best skills for cognition, effective communication, negotiation, computing, stress management and clarity of thought under pressure are learnt, which form an indispensable part of any profession today and in the future.

We are committed to building lifelong relationships, happy, confident young individuals and a better human being to make this world a better place to live. Our parents chose us for the same reasons as above. This is the core to how we build the school together!

Ms. Michele Lum

Principal of Fairview International School, Ipoh
